How to Choose a Portable Charger

A portable charger is a handy device that stores electricity to power your electronic devices when you don’t have immediate access to an outlet. They are useful when traveling, and especially during flights and hotel stays where finding an available power outlet can be a struggle. Having one on hand also gives you peace of mind in case your phone battery dies and you don’t have time to plug it in.

There are a number of things to consider when choosing a portable charger, like the amount of energy it holds and how many charging ports it has. Most portable chargers have at least two USB ports to allow you to charge multiple devices simultaneously. Larger power banks have more than two USB ports and can support fast charging.

You also want to look at the total mAh (milliampere hours) capacity of the charger to ensure that it has enough power to charge your devices. Smaller 3,000 mAh power banks can charge most smartphones, while larger 10,000 mAh and higher power bank can power up a laptop and tablet or two phones.

Once you have determined the amount of energy your portable charger needs, consider how many devices you will use it with and how often you might need to charge them. If you will use it mostly for work or school, a higher capacity will give you more power to stay productive and on the go.

Next, think about any extra convenient features you might need. For example, there are some power banks that include a built-in AC wall plug for recharging and that remove the need to carry a separate charger cable and wall adapter. Some are even designed to charge your smartphone wirelessly.

Lastly, you might want to look for a portable charger that has an LED screen to show how much of the battery is charged. This can be helpful when you’re on the go and need to know how long it will take to recharge your phone before running out of juice.

There are a lot of different types of portable chargers out there, from simple USB battery packs to specialized power banks for jumping cars. Some even have built-in flashlights. For example, this power bank from UGreen has three ports – two standard USB and a single USB-C port – and a button that doubles as a flashlight. It also has a paw print design on the front and is super light so you can easily keep it in your pocket or bag without feeling too bulky. It’s also very affordable and has a decent 145W of total power output through its ports. That’s a lot of power for under $100.
